Prof Sharma is Director of the Clinical Neuroscience Research Centre at Dartford, Kent and is committed to raising awareness of mental illness. Prof Sharma was the Chair of the Schizophrenia working party for the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Changing Minds campaign, a 5-year initiative to combat the stigma of mental illness which ended in 2003, and is now a member of the Operations and Finance committee for Rethink, the largest voluntary sector service provider in mental health in the UK.
